Hi Mike,

I have a few questions about the NMRA show that I wasn't able to find on their site.

1. When are we supposed to do setup and tear down?
2. Do we need to register for the event?
3. I noticed that the event is from the 5th to the 12th, with the public part from the 10th to the 12th so what is happening between the 5th and the 10th?
4. Can we get folding tables from the organizers?
5. If we can get tables do they know what height they are so I can determine if they will work with our tables?

Jon -

Here is the info I have received from our NMRA contact:

1. Setup times: Wednesday (7-7-09) Noon to 6 :00 pm and Thursday (7-7-09) 8:00 am to 8:30 pm. Tear down times: Sunday (7-12-09) 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm

2. There is no registration required for the National Train Show (NTS).

3. The NTS dates are 7-8 to 7-12. 7-8 & 7-9 are setup. 7-10, 7-11 and 7-12 are public show days. 7-12 evening is tear down. The 7-5 to 7-7 time period are dates for the NMRA convention activities which are separate from the NTS. The NMRA convention is also having separate activities on 7-8 to 7-11.

4. The only tables that are available are not the folding type. There is a very limited number of tables available whose size is 8' long x 30" wide x 30" high.

5. 30" high

Since there is a limited number of tables (and there's a rental fee for them), we will need to get numbers of what we need to them as soon as possible.

I trying to determine the number of tables right now.

The 8' dimension is making it difficult though since that 9.5 baseplates plus an extra 1".

YES!!!

Any and all AFOLs are welcome to display as much or as little as they desire. Please post what you'd like to bring to the 'I Want to Contribute!' thread so your MOCs can be included in the planning, and thanks for asking!

mike,
one more question, do you have to be an AFOL or are TFOL's allowed?

It is not a problem at all for TFOLs to contribute and display, but both you (the TFOL) and your parent/guardian need to know that none of us individually or any of the groups involved in the train show can be responsible for your well-being during set up, tear down or during the show itself.

You are more than welcome, and you will find that we are happy to "show you the ropes" on all things LEGO, but legally we can't "watch you". That remains the responsibility of your parent/guardian, until you're 18. At that point you're legal to vote, enlist in the armed services, buy porn, and be an official AFOL, emphasis on the 'A'! :b

Just to avoid any confusion. I believe Mike is saying you'll need to have an adult (someone to look after you) with you while you're attending the show.

Correct me if I'm mistaken though.

Probably adding to the confusion, but I wouldn't think that would be the case. If you're old enough to drive, I don't think you need a parent to accompany you. I believe what Mike is saying is that no one at the show will be legally responsible for anything that happens either to, or because of, someone who is under 18.

i realize that no one would be held responsible for my safety and i would probably have a person over 18 with me.
