The LDD pallet was updated for the start of April.

Several parts are now missing while several others have been added; to examples, the train bearing element is now available in Grey, while the 3x4 crate has been discontinued.

And some new detailing parts have been added, while some of the rods have been taken away. And don't get me started on the gears...

Holly price markup...

http://shop.lego.com/pab/?warning=false

For example the Trains-n-Town Container used to be between $4-$5. Now it is $13.78! I can't ask folks to spend that much on THOSE parts!

I also noticed the price jump. After seeing the post that the LDD pallet was updated i went on to check it out and update some models. I noticed a set i designed that was ,prior to the update, $70 had jumped to $270. I about fainted, how can the tripple the price? is it an error in the update or are they serious?

What I heard on fan sites was that this is some sort of glitch, remember before when some pieces were off by a digit causing a massive markup? According to LEGO this glitch is on the conversion rate. They are still marking up bricks, but it probably is not this severe.

Happy building!

Here is the official statement which we've just received. The new prices will be updated likley later today.

Dear LEGO fans, Based on all the feedback over the past week regarding our new Pick A Brick elements and pricing we will reduce the pricing on LEGO Pick A Brick elements.

There were good reasons behind our decision to raise prices of this relatively operationally complex Pick A Brick service. However, over the last week we have realised, thanks to you, that it was unacceptable to raise the prices so steeply without notice. We have acted quickly and have taken the decision to reduce the pricing on LEGO Pick A Brick elements. The prices cannot return to the original 2008 level but the increases are now very much smaller. We are pleased to now offer you the biggest, most comprehensive assortment ever including:
- More colours
- Most recent doors and windows are now available in PAB and MOD
- More longer beams to enable larger constructions
- More accessories (such as head dresses)
- More mini-figs (now with girl and child (short legs))
- More cool tires and rims

We hope to welcome you back to Pick A Brick soon.

Your LEGO team

Matija,

Thanks for posting this here! It is very appreciated!

That said I have a few concerns.

1. Unfortunately this was not a mistake. LEGO had intended for those prices to replace the old prices.

2. If LEGO had notified us ahead of time it would have been OK to more than double prices? What would have they considered appropriate notification?

3. The consumer could care less that this is a labor intensive process. If that is central to the problem LEGO needs to either make it less labor intensive or stop offering PAB and LEGO Factory.

4. Using the excuse of better selection as a reason to raise prices is lame.

I am grateful that LEGO has taken action. It at least shows they are listening. I also realize prices can't remain fixed forever. LEGO just need to understand that their biggest fans do not have unlimited resources and we all have our thresholds for pain which when crossed can cause extreme reactions.

The price change was on purpose?! Confused
Eric, you're right. It's not like everyone has money growing on trees. They need to understand that people aren't going to pay $50 for a little car with 20 bricks.

I wonder whether we'll be able to use the new steam loco wheels from the emerald night...

Sal,

Could you point out some specific examples. I may be able to help get these discrepancies to someone at LEGO.
